WELCOME
WELCOME to the “Emerald City!”
The members of the Pacific Northwest Chapter wish to welcome you to Seattle (aka the Emerald City) as it hosts this year’s 74th Tax and Accounting Conference for Cooperatives. We are also pleased to welcome the Electric Co-op Chapter, which will be holding its annual chapter meeting in conjunction with the national conference.
The Seattle Sheraton Hotel and Towers in downtown Seattle is the conference hotel where all sessions will be held. Most everything is within walking distance of the hotel – restaurants, entertainment, Pike Place Market, Safeco Field (a long hike) and other sites.
At last year’s conference, the Host Chapter set up a hospitality area for those arriving Sunday afternoon and evening. We continue this by providing refreshments near the Registration Desk, which will be open Sunday evening for an “Early Arrival” reception from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Snacks will be provided. Please stop by. Members of the Pacific Northwest Chapter Host Committee will be on hand to welcome you.
The meeting begins on Monday with a general session available to all, then into breakout sessions and will wrap up with the last Electric Co-op session of the day as well as the Small and Large Co-op Roundtables and an A&A breakout. Tuesday begins with a session covering the latest from FASB with more breakouts throughout the day, the annual awards luncheon and business meeting, and then the last two hours wrap up in general sessions covering a broad range of accounting subjects of interest to cooperatives. Wednesday is the final day of sessions with four hours of CPE in the morning, wrapping up by noon.
On Monday evening, August 10th, all attendees are welcome to attend the annual evening event at The Museum of Flight where you will enjoy delicious food prepared by McCormicks & Schmick’s and see the magnificent flying machines suspended from six stories down.
There are several optional events planned for spouses and guests including a sightseeing tour of Seattle as well as an afternoon experiencing several wineries in the area both Monday and Tuesday.
On Tuesday evening, August 11th it is the Mariners vs. Chicago White Sox game, an optional event for those who have already purchased a ticket. Your ticket is for a seat only this year. There will be no buffet meal provided at the ballpark with your ticket like last year.
Following the meeting on Wednesday, August 12th at noon, we will be holding our annual golf outing at The Golf Course at Newcastle.
As you can see, we have a full program planned for these two and half days. We are excited you’re coming and extend to you a warm Pacific Northwest Chapter welcome!
